Chapman signs Penguin deal for Rah Rah
Chapman Entertainment announces today a new five year contract with Penguin Books as the master publisher licensee for their latest pre-school brand acquired by CBeebies, Rah Rah The Noisy Lion.

This partnership marks the first time that Chapman Entertainment has worked with Penguin Books. Under this agreement, the company receives global English language rights (excluding the USA and Canada), and can publish books in all formats including electronic, picture storybooks, beginner books, sticker books, colouring books, activity books, novelty and audio books under the Ladybird imprint.

Like the series, all books published in the Ladybird programme will be designed to help children aged up to four years ‘find their voice’ through the assistance of sounds, gestures, expressions and words!

Valerie Fry, Director of Licensing at Chapman Entertainment comments, “Penguin’s Ladybird imprint has been established for a long time and the editorial team have a wealth of knowledge and expertise in developing pre-school licensed books. We are very pleased to be working with them on our adorable new property, Rah Rah - they have fallen in love with the characters, just as we have! I look forward to seeing the books on shelf later next year!”

Eric Huang, Category Publisher Brands and Licensing comments,Everyone at Penguin is looking forward to working with Chapman for the very first time. Rah Rah and Ladybird are the perfect match. Both are parent trusted, educator tested and just fun. We are already busy at work on a line of novelty, activity and digital titles that will help establish Rah Rah as a premier early learning brand.”

Earlier this year, Chapman Entertainment announced a five year contract with Tomy as the master toy licensee on Rah Rah. The popular toy manufacture received distribution rights in the UK, France, Benelux and Germany. The company also has global manufacturing rights (excluding US) for Plush, Playsets, Figurine vehicles, Active Games and Creative Play – also expected to be on shelf in late 2011.

Vision+Media supported the development of Rah Rah, originated by Mackinnon & Saunders and produced by Chapman Entertainment, through its Regional Attraction Fund (RAF), delivered in partnership with the Northwest Development Agency.

Chapman Entertainment’s two other pre-school properties are still going strong with Roary The Racing Car taking the chequered flag in over 140 countries, and Fifi and the Flowertots blossoming on the small screen in 148 countries.
