These plans will see the Cumbria, Lancashire, Cheshire and Greater Manchester regional film offices merge, offering a one-stop-shop Film Office for the North West. Operational from 14 June 2010, the service will operate out of the Vision+Media offices at MediaCityUK, Salford Quays.
The change comes after a period of consultation with the regional and national Film and TV industry, which recommend improvements via the Screen Agency network. Vision+Media’s new single Film Office responded to these recommendations by offering a more consolidated service to production companies and implementing fewer entry points into the region.
The North West is now the number one production base outside of London, last year Vision+Media’s film offices facilitated 549 productions and 1,907 filming days in the region. However, in the next two years we expect to be even busier thanks to the arrival of MediaCityUK and the growing interest in the North West as a filming location.
Our new structure will provide a more efficient, cost effective service bringing all of our regional specialism under one roof and providing every aspect of production liaison support including; sourcing locations, access to regional crew, facilities and studios and access to our film friendly local authorities.”
The new centralised Film Office will be staffed by our locations experts; Susan Williams, Bobby Cochrane and Anna Cousins, who will offer free help and advice to companies who want to film in the North West. Meet the Vision+Media Film Office production services and locations team.
The plans are in joint agreement with the Liverpool Film Office who will continue to operate an independent Film Office for Liverpool as part of Liverpool City Council and will put Vision+Media in line with the eight additional screen agencies across England.
