Just Before Dawn, directed by Loren Slater of Signal Films, is in the running for Best British Short at the 64th Edinburgh International Film Festival 2010. The film stars Natalie Press and Vicky McClure as two female friends on a mission to rediscover the heady days of their youth. At a late night, isolated party in the countryside one of them discovers this might be more difficult than she imagined. Filmed on location in Cumbria’s Lake District, the film was produced though the 2008/9 Digital Shorts scheme run by Vision+Media and the UK Film Council.
Will Massa, New Talent Development and Film Executive for Vision+Media, says ‘Edinburgh is the number one film festival in the UK for championing new talent, so we are absolutely thrilled that a film from the scheme has been selected. It’s part of a very strong line up and a wonderful opportunity for Loren and her team to kick start a successful festival run. This is exactly what we hope for when we commission our shorts’.
Loren says: 'I’m thrilled that Just Before Dawn has been chosen to premiere at Edinburgh International Film Festival 2010. One of the goals when making any film is to get it seen in cinemas by as many people as possible and to have Just Before Dawn’s first screening at one of the world’s leading film festivals is incredibly exciting.' film festival
