The 15th Annual Manchester Jazz Festival kicks off on 23rd July 2010.
This year promises to be the biggest festival to date, with over 80 bands across 8 city centre playing all times of the day and night, indoors and out!
The festival has had a long and eclectic history. It started out in 1995, with a handful of musicians, and some scattered funding from the Musicians Union, Manchester City Council, the (then) North West Arts Board, and a brewery. Growing each year, the festival has demonstrated that there is a great demand for such an explosive and dynamic outdoors event, from both performers and audiences alike. Thanks to a continued and growing base of funders, including Manchester City Council, Arts Council England, PRS for Music, AGMA and San Miguel, many of the events at the festival remain free to attend.
Vision+Media will be blogging from various events throughout the week, and will be hoping to feature some interviews with some of the up-and-coming jazz musicians.
The festival's organiser are also on the look out for volunteers to film the festival. Skills and experience would be necessary - for more information or to regsiter your interest e-mail rachel@manchesterjazz.com
