Oxford
we are

submissions

shorts
and
feature
competitions.

Competition

CITY
IN
MOTION
takes
place
for a
second
year
in
2008
as
part
of the
City
of
London
Festival,
which
takes
place
from
20
June
–
10
July
2008.
Hosted
by the
City
of
London
Festival,
in
partnership
with
Barbican
Film
and
the
British
Film
Institute,
the
event
is for
short
works
up to
8
minutes
created
by
students
age 16
years
and
above.
Six
short
films
will
be
selected
for
screenings
at the
Barbican
cinemas.
Two
bursary
prizes
of
£2000
will

awarded.

At noon on 21 June, 2008 some of the biggest names in design, the creative industries, media, and the arts will launch a 24 hour Conversation and debate in the centre of Manchester, with a selected audience of two hundred talented and creative young people from across the city and beyond.
The two hundred young people – the 'talent' - attending the event will be selected for the potential they show across a broad spectrum of the creative arts. Talented individuals across the region are invited to upload their 'Inspired Moment' at www.tonywilsonexperience.com and will be selected to take part by a panel including some of the event's media supporters, education partners, organisers, and the 24 Experienced speakers themselves. All participants will be over 18.
Movie Mogul Fund - Micro Movie Lab

award
for
aspiring
filmmakers

Cumbria

pleased

foundation
of a
new
award
aimed
at
supporting
aspiring
film
makers
in
Cumbria.
An
award
of
£500
will
be
offered
once a
year
to a
Cumbrian
film-maker.
The
award
is
aimed
at
film
makers
living
and
working
in
Cumbria,
who
are
actively
involved
in
film
making
and
may
need a
boost
to get
a film
off
the
ground
or to
develop
their
film
making
skills.
Virgin Media Shorts
Deadline for submissions: 30th June 2008
Virgin Media Shorts aims to seek out, promote and profile Britain’s best short film makers giving them a multi platform arena to showcase their work including online, TV, mobile, internet and on cinema screens across the UK. Filmmakers can now submit their short film (no longer than 2mins 30 seconds ) online and take part in the competition. The top 12 films will be blown up to a 35 mm print and shown on 211 cinema screens across the UK. The winner, selected by respected filmmakers in the industry will be given the chance to work directly with the UK Film Council and Virgin Media to develop and produce their next short film with a budget of up to £30,000.

exposures – the UK's leading competitive festival for student film and moving image – is looking for the talent of the future. Call for entries is now open for the 2008 edition to be held in November at Cornerhouse and Urbis, Manchester's two leading contemporary arts venues, co-hosts of exposures for the first time this year.
The Liverpool Connection: Call for Entries
Deadline: 8th August
A five day film festival, The Liverpool Connection, will be facilitated under the umbrella community arts initiative, Urban Strawberry Lunch at St Luke's in the Autumn. Before each “Main Feature” we will screen shorts, documentaries etc written, produced and directed by amateur and professional filmmakers, giving local talent an opportunity to display their work in a unique, centrally located, venue. This will all run alongside exhibitions and performances by local artists and musicians to create a holistic approach to the festival. The entries should be no longer than 30 minutes and be locally produced.
