Film Insiders Talent Festival – Free Short Courses 2009

Places are now available on our popular filmmaking courses culminating in the Film Insiders Talent Festival 2009 taking place this February 26th, 27th and 28th in Barrow-in-Furness.

Free Industry training is available in a variety of filmmaking specialisms including Directing, Producing, Camera, Sound, Photography, Scriptwriting and Editing.

Funding to Attend Realscreen Summit

10th Keswick Film Festival: Cumbrian Short Film Award
Deadline: 1st Feb 2009

We are pleased to announce that the Keswick Film Festival is again holding a short film competition at the 2009 festival, and is now seeking submissions. There will be two categories of entry for the Cumbrian Short Film Award:

* An open category for all types and ages of film maker with a link to Cumbria.
* A young person category for film makers under 18 years of age with a link to Cumbria.

An award of £200 will be given to the best short film in the open category. The award for the best short film in the young person category has yet to be confirmed.

Oska Bright Film Festival

Oska Bright is unique. It is the first and only festival managed and promoted by learning disabled artists as a showcase for their creativity and skill as film-makers. Submitted films are selected by a panel and there are a variety of categories for which awards are offered, including development bursaries. There is a film-making workshop and networking opportunities over the three day event, culminating in a lively awards ceremony.


Skillset Archive CPD Funding Programme

I’m pleased to announce that the Skillset Archive CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Funding Programme has been launched and is now open for applications from organisations looking to deliver training in this area - full details are available here: www.skillset.org/funding/organisations/apply_FSF/article_7032_1.asp. Organisations can apply for grants to deliver training to existing professionals working with audio visual archives within the UK. Applications can be made at any time from now until the deadline of 26th June 2009. Applications will be assessed and funding decisions made on a rolling basis. A decision takes approximately 8 weeks from when it is received.

Skillset, the Sector Skills Council for Creative Media is the UK-wide industry body which supports skills and training for people and businesses to ensure the UK creative media industries maintain their world class position.
