Northwest Vision and Media, create the bigger picture
Cannes Success
Northwest
Vision
and
Media
wowed
Cannes,
with
the
Official
Cannes
Selection
of
Digital
Departures
documentary,
Of
Time
and
the
City,
made
by
renowned
British
director,
Terence
Davies,
together
with
Merseyside-based
producers,
Sol
Papadopoulos
and
Roy
Boulter
of
Hurricane
Films.
The
micro-budget
feature
film
enjoyed
an
exclusive
screening,
garnering
rave
reviews
from
major
film
critics
across
the
international
press.
It was
acquired
for UK
distribution
by the
BFI,
with
international
sales
being
handled
by
HanWay
Films.
Filmmakers
from
all
three
Digital
Departures
films,
Of
Time
and
the
City,
Starstruck
and
Salvage,
were
at the
Festival
to
promote
their
soon-to-be-released
features,
and
the
Vision
and
Media
team
did a
great
job
promoting
the
Northwest
as a
filming
location,
enticing
a
variety
of
production
companies
to
investigate
the
region.
Vision
and
Media
also
hosted
a
breakfast
event
to
showcase
Digital
Departures
and
demonstrate
how
the
Northwest
is
leading
the
way in
micro-budget
feature
filmmaking.
Chief
Executive
of the
UK
Film
Council,
John
Woodward,
gave
his
support
to the
initiative,
and
Minister
of
State
of
Culture,
Media
and
Sport
Andy
Burnham,
who
was
unable
to
attend,
sent a
message:
”I’d
like
to pay
tribute
to the
Digital
Departures
programme
–
to
Northwest
Vision
and
Media
who
devised
the
scheme
and
all
the
partners
involved
–
Liverpool
Culture
Company,
the UK
Film
Council
and
the
BBC.
”It’s
a
shining
example
of
public
bodies
working
together
to
inspire
hundreds
of
talented
people
to
experiment
with
new
and
cutting
edge
technologies
–
including
directors
as
established
and as
distinguished
as
Terence
Davis.”
