Northwest Vision and Media, create the bigger picture
Chorley on Film 2 Screening
IN
response
to
public
demand
the
North
West
Film
Archive
at
Manchester
Metropolitan
University
is
pleased
to
announce
Chorley
on
Film
2,
a part
of its
programme
to
make
this
fascinating
collection
available
to the
public
of the
Northwest
region.
Supported
by
Northwest
Vision
and
Media
and in
collaboration
with
the
Chorley
Film
Society,
the
NWFA
will
present
a
further
public
screening
of
films
from
its
collection
at the
Chorley
Little
Theatre.
The
programme
will
be a
mixture
of
mainly
new
material
and a
few
old
favourites.
The
screening
will
take
place
on
Tuesday
19th
August
2008
at
7.30pm.
The
films
to be
shown
will
feature
life
in and
around
Chorley
and
central
Lancashire
and
will
include
material
from
much
of the
previous
century.
Titles
will
include
moving
scenes
at the
unveiling
of the
memorial
to the
Chorley
Pals,
with
children
seen
wearing
their
father’s
medals,
first
screened
at
what
is now
the
Little
Theatre
in
1924,
and
you
can
see
Chorley’s
own
version
of
Dad’s
Army
on
exercise
in
Astley
Park
in
1943.
Wartime
Lancashire’s
production
of
cotton
and
food
is
illustrated
in
Queen
Cotton
and
Summer
on the
Farm,
whilst
the
county
relaxes
postwar
in
Lancashire
Coast
and at
the
ABC
cinema
in
Preston.
The
screening
comes
more
up to
date
with
views
of the
building
of the
M61,
and we
re-tell
An
Old
Wives
Tale,
a film
made
to
promote
the
Central
Lancashire
Newtown
to
potential
new
residents
and
businesses
in
1972.
The
Archive’s
Service
Manager
Marion
Hewitt
said

is a
great
opportunity
for
the
people
of
Chorley
to
enjoy
an
evening
with a
difference,
and
take a
look
back
at
life
in
their
area
in the
past
century”.
