Costume North is dressed for success
A diverse range of stock combined with dedicated staff and attention to detail makes costume hire business Costume North very hard to measure up to.
And that’s why Northwest Vision and Media, who work on behalf of the digital and creative industries in the Northwest to create a world-class digital and creative economy within the region, has chosen Costume North as its Facility of the Month for June.
Situated in a 2000 sq ft site in the heart of Manchester, Costume North has over 50,000 costumes and accessories from a wide range of historical periods, all on offer for the film, television, photographic and theatre industries.
Manager Marie Miller established the business in 2005 after working at Granada Television’s costume department.
Marie explains: “I decided to set up Costume North when Granada merged with Carlton and managed to purchase their costume stock, which dates back over 50 years.
“I have an in-depth knowledge of costume construction and design, so at Costume North we don’t just supply, we also offer advice, fitting services and provide tailor-made, bespoke costume design to meet our client’s specific needs.”
The company has supplied costumes to countless high profile productions including Shameless, the Royle Family, Waterloo Road, Boy Meets Girl and Ken Loach’s latest film, Looking for Eric, which was part funded by Northwest Vision and Media.
Marie adds: “Being flexible and competitively priced is key to our success - we’re happy to deliver or collect items across the country, design a single item or supply outfits for an entire show. Whatever the request, we’re always willing to go the extra mile for a production.”
