Could you be the next Apprentice?
Regional screen agency, Northwest Vision and Media is
looking to recruit the next big name in TV, Film and Radio for its
unique and ground-breaking Advanced Apprenticeship in Media
Production scheme.
Aimed at young people who wouldn’t normally
get the opportunity to work in this exciting sector, the course,
which is now in its third year, is a mixture of college taught
modules and hands on work experience and training. Each year 20
talented apprentices aged between 16 and 22 and from a hugely
diverse range of backgrounds are selected to participate in the
scheme.
The 18 month course includes 8-9 months practical work experience
at a variety of different production companies, including the BBC,
ITV, Lime Pictures, Channel K, Shine North and Belly Feel, as well
as two Level 3 qualifications in Media Production. It has been
designed by BBC People, alongside Northwest Vision and Media, the
LSC and Skillset to act as a balance to graduate recruitment and to
ensure non-graduate talent from different communities can work in
the media and generate content.
In addition to the two Level 3 NVQ qualifications, graduates will
also receive soft skills training including CV consultancy,
networking sessions and a tax seminar. At the end of the placement
they should be ready to either compete for jobs in the workplace or
embark on further media-related training.
The latest course of apprentices will graduate in 2011 and with the
BBC’s plans to move key departments to MediaCityUK in
Salford, as well as the government’s recent commitment to
apprentices nationwide, makes the Advanced Apprenticeship in Media
Production an even more necessary and timely intervention.
The application process for Northwest Vision and
Media’s Advanced Apprenticeship in Media
Production is now open . For more information or to
