Cracker returns
Ten Years On... Cracker Is Back
Renowned Criminal Psychologist Edward 'Fitz' Fitzgerald (Robbie
Coltrane) returns to our screens on Sunday 1st October in a
two-hour feature length special of 'Cracker' on ITV 1.
Written by creator Jimmy McGovern (The Street, The Lakes, Hillsborough) the plot sees Fitz return to an almost unrecognisable Manchester city centre after spending ten years away in Australia. As he comes to terms with the new look Manchester, he soon discovers old passions; excessive gambling, drinking and smoking and he also cant wait to 'crack' his first case in the the rehabilitated city.
Filming of the feature was assisted by North West Vision's Manchester Film Office and covers an array of central locations including the Northern Quarter, City Centre and Miles Platting and Ancoats areas which double as Northern Ireland.
Susan Williams, Manchester Film Officer said:
"It's always exciting when Cracker comes back to town. The production team behind this episode were keen to highlight how much Manchester has changed in the ten years since the IRA bombed the Arndale Centre. Yet despite the changes, the story soon focuses its attention to the murky and gritty realism that attracted audiences to 'Cracker' in the first place."
Cracker returns on Sunday 1st October at 9.00pm, ITV1
