Cumbria Short Film Night
CUMBRIA FILMMAKERS NETWORK SHORT FILM
NIGHTS
THE next Cumbria Filmmakers Network Kendal short film night
is on Tuesday 2nd October, 7:30pm at BAR Ninety-Nine (upstairs
bar), 99 Highgate, Kendal – FREE ADMISSION.
We are delighted to be featuring a short film by LA Director, Marcus D. Russell.
Sex, Love & Z-Parts… is the twisted tale of two best friends, Disco and Mitch who pool their meager savings to buy the car of their dreams, a 1976 Datsun 280Z. Deluded with the prospects of a bleak future, the twosome decide to fix a minor league baseball game to make enough $$$ to flee the town forever. The film chronicles the last days of this flawed plan that results in the two fleeing the town much earlier than expected.
The evening will also feature Call Me, a short film shot in Cumbria by Director Mags Scholes (Produced by Jo Hutton).
The short film is about an egotistical radio presenter, Terry Taite, whose programme airs live through the night. Callers ring in to discuss their dilemmas. Terry, obnoxious, arrogant and demanding, belittles their problems. As his fall from grace becomes evident he begins to question himself: Is this the real Terry, or have his callers created him?
Marcus D. Russell, (flying in especially from Los Angeles for
the screening), Mags Scholes and Jo Hutton will be there on
the
evening to introduce their films and also take part in a Q&A
with the audience afterwards.
Come along, and bring your friends! Bar 99 is a modern, spacious
venue with a relaxed atmosphere. You’ll find us in the
upstairs bar (turn left at the downstairs bar, up the stairs and
turn right).
The evening will also include a selection of short films made by other filmmakers in both the North West and the rest of the UK. As always the film nights are FREE ADMISSION.
