Digital Plus 2007

DIGITAL PLUS 2007

NORTHWEST Vision and Media is delighted to announce the launch of its second Digital Plus short film funding scheme, an exciting initiative which has been created in collaboration with UK Film Council’s New Cinema Fund to support the continued development of our region’s filmmakers.

The Digital Plus scheme is aimed at directors who have already made a Northwest Vision and Media funded short film, as it’s been designed to help bridge the gap to national schemes (such as Cinema Extreme), or some of the low-budget feature schemes which are being launched across the UK.

“All directors that have made a short film with Northwest Vision and Media are eligible to apply as these filmmakers have already demonstrated their abilities to us through work produced as part of one of our schemes,” explains Helen Bingham, Head of Production Development at Vision and Media.

Aneel Ahmad, the recipient of Vision and Media’s first Digital Plus award, shot his 15-minute film Boot Polish in Lahore, Pakistan. It has since gone on to screen in several film festivals around the world including, most recently, the 9th BFM International Short Film Awards in London.

Northwest Vision and Media will make one film at a budget of £18,000 this year as part of the Digital Plus scheme, which is only available to directors that have previously made a short film as part of one of Northwest Vision and Media’s short film schemes. These schemes are Virgin Shorts 2003 and 2005 and Digital Shorts, 2001-2006.

“Applicants should also have an experienced production company attached to them, who should be able to demonstrate that they can produce and deliver the film,” says Helen.

This production company does not have to be based in the Northwest, but the company must have the expertise and track record to produce a short film from pre-production, right through to final delivery.

The Digital Plus guidelines contain full details of eligibility requirements and how to make an application. If you are eligible to apply and would like a copy of the application form and guidelines, please contact Tom Gabbutt on tomg@visionandmedia.co.uk
