What would you say were the best bits about the Northern Routes Training Scheme and your placement?
All of it - I loved it! It was a route in to the industry and it gave me the opportunity to work with highly talented people who were only too happy to train me and offer me help and advice on how to progress. It was great being able to see a production though from beginning to end and learn what is required from a trainee Hair & Make-up Artist on set at each stage of the production.

Would you recommend Northern Routes to other potential trainees (please give reasons)?:
Definitely - the opportunities Northern Routes can offer people who want to work in TV/Media are invaluable, the training they arrange is of the highest standard and the support they give you is excellent.

Please explain what you have gone on to do following Northern Routes:
I am currently working at The Royal Exchange Theatre on Hayfever in the Wig Department.

What do you hope to do in the future and how has Northern Routes helped you in working towards this goal?
I have signed up to do my NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing, starting in September as this is what the make-up Supervisors I have worked with during the training scheme have recommended and Northern Routes have continued their support by sourcing funding for me to complete this training. When I complete the course I will be working hard to secure work within the TV/Media industry and build on the training I have received through the scheme.

Northern Routes has helped turn my hopes and aspirations into reality!
