i.studio 2009: Helping digital companies find new talent

In 2008 we successfully launched i.studio: a placement-based training and development scheme for the region’s new digital talent. Here’s what a current host company has to say about the experience:

We’ve found the i.studio programme to be an excellent source of talent for digital skills and has played a crucial role in training and preparing that talent for the workplace. We’ve found our intern to be an enthusiastic and active participant in the digital community, both locally and online, and have been so impressed with the quality of his work that we have nominated him for awards for his design.” Ed Cox, Managing Director, Virtual Construction

Companies currently taking part include Mando Group, Fluid Creativity, Virtual Construction and Splinter Design Communication, taking on trainees in Design, Development and Project Co-ordination roles.

We’re now looking for more employers to take part in 2009, and in return we can subsidise 50% of the salary, help find candidates and provide structured training and support around the placement.

Placements last 6 months - by then you’ll either have gained an indispensable member of your team, or someone ready to make a big difference to the digital economy in the region. We are planning for placements to start in September.
