Looking for Eric UK Premiere
CANTONA RETURNS TO MANCHESTER FOR THE UK PREMIERE OF
LOOKING FOR ERIC
Regional screen agency Northwest Vision and Media
were on hand to welcome renowned director Ken
Loach and footballing legend Eric Cantona
to the region for the UK premiere of their new film, Looking For
Eric.
The fantastic weather saw fans gather outside the Vue
Cinema at The Lowry Centre, Salford Quays to catch a
glimpse of the ex Manchester United player on a rare return to the
city. They were not left disappointed as the footballer turned
actor spent time signing autographs and meeting fans on the red
carpet.
The film itself, which was part funded by Northwest Vision
and Media and shot entirely on location in Manchester with
the help of the Greater Manchester Film Office, follows the story
of Postman Eric, who when his life spirals out of control turns to
his hero Cantona. Local actor Steve Evetts from Salford plays the
lead of role of Eric the postman and was delighted that the film
premiered in his home town.
The film’s cast was made up of a stream of Northwest talent
including ex Coronation Street actress Lucy-Jo Hudson, Shameless
actor Gerard Kearns, Key 103’s Justin Moorhouse and John
Henshaw to name just a few.
Head of Film for Northwest Vision and Media, Tara Cook, comments on
the film’s success, “It’s such a fantastic honour
for the film to not only be filmed, but also have its UK premiere
in the area. Ken and Eric are two massive names and we hope that
they can help put the Northwest on the map, not only highlighting
the great talent we have working in the region, but also as a
filming destination.”
Looking For Eric is released on the 12th
June
