Miss
Potter
Filmed in Cumbria
Director: Chris Noonan

Cumbria had a taste of Hollywood magic with the filming of Miss
Potter, an exploration of the life of children's author,
Beatrix Potter. Academy Award winner Renée Zellweger heads
the international cast of the film that stars Ewan McGregor and
Emily Watson. Miss Potter filmed in the beautiful Lake District,
home to so many of Beatrix Potter's creations - Peter Rabbit, Mrs
Tiggy-Winkle, Jeremy Fisher and their friends.
Offside
Filmed in Liverpool
Directors: Guy Nattiv, Erez Tadmor

Offside is a football themed co-production from
Liverpool's Tubedale Films and Swedish producers, Gota Film. Timed
to perfection, this topical feature film plays on the link between
Swedish and English football in the lead up to the World Cup.
Synopsis
Stenfors FC are crap. Really crap.
They used to be good though. A first division side with a proud
history but now they're a bunch of misfits on the brink of
relegation and to make matters worse it's their centenary year. As
a last throw of the dice the club's wheeler-dealing left-winger
manages to persuade a former Liverpool FC legend to join the team
to help in the fight for survival.
Love + Hate

Filmed on location in Blackburn, & starring Samina Awan, Tom
Hudson, Nichola Burley and Wasim Zakir, Love + Hate is a
modern love story set across the racial divide in a Northern
town.
Synopsis
Adam has been brought up in a home and community that fosters
racial hatred. Naseema is a girl from the same town, belonging to a
new generation of Asian youth, who have taken up the violence
offered to them as a way of reclaiming the past. At first
resistant, the pair cannot avoid their mutual attraction, and
embark on a relationship that threatens to bring down their
families as well as themselves.

Comedy
I'm with Stupid (BBC Comedy North)

Filmed
entirely on location in Bury, this brand new series begins on BBC
Three from Sunday 10th September 2006. Following last year's
successful and critically acclaimed pilot, the show follows the
antics of Sheldon (Mark Benton), a homeless man who strikes up an
unlikely relationship with Paul (Paul Henshall), a wheelchair user
with cerebral palsy.

The Northwest is a magnet for quality TV drama, attracting productions such Life on Mars, Cutting It, Shameless, Christmas Lights and its spin-off series Northern Lights, Vincent and Blue Murder, for repeat visits to the region.

Life on Mars (Kudos for BBC)
Filmed in Greater Manchester

The BBC's unique step back to the 1970's, Life On Mars,
was a resounding success with 7.1m viewers tuning in for last
Monday's finale. It is hoped that this success will be replicated
in the new series, which is currently filming at locations in
Manchester and Greater Manchester.
Cracker (ITV Granada)
Filmed in Greater Manchester

After a ten year wait, Autumn will see the return of the
award-winning drama Cracker. A one-off special finds Fitz
(Robbie Coltrane) coming back to Manchester for a family wedding
and finding the place completely transformed.
Cassanova (Red Production Company)
Filmed in Cheshire

A captivating look at the life of Casanova - the world's greatest
lover, written by award winning writer Russell T Davis (Dr Who,
Queer as Folk)
This action-adventure, shot through with romance and emotion moved seamlessly between comedy and tragedy in the style of Moulin Rouge. Casanova took us from the decadent streets of 18th Century Venice to the salons of pre-Revolution Paris, and on to the London courts of George III.
Big Dippers (Red Production Company)
Filmed in Liverpool
Directed by Ciaran Donnelly

Filmed at locations across Merseyside, Big Dippers starred
James Nesbitt and Pearce Quigley as Ray and Perry; two small time
criminals. Down on their luck, they try a favourite scam and switch
briefcases with a grey-haired man as he boards a ferry to
Ireland.

The Streets - Never Went to Church
Filmed in Cumbria

The single, Never Went to Church, is a tribute to Mike Skinner's
recently deceased Father and will be released on Monday 5th June.
Filmed in Cumbria locations at Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway
and the very snowy Tarn Hows.

Commercials
The AA - You've Got a Friend
Filmed in Cumbria/Greater Manchester
Directed by Tony Kaye

England's Northwest was visited by Tony Kaye (one of the industry's
more colourful Hollywood directors) for the shoot of a high-budget
AA commercial featuring over one three hundred extras.
Choreographed to James Taylor's, You've Got a Friend, the
all-singing, all-dancing cast dressed as AA patrol men and danced
their way across the Northwest landscape. The commercial was shot
on location in the region at the start of 2005 and was assisted by
North West Vision's Manchester and Cumbria Film Offices.
