Mediabox
WHAT IS MEDIABOX?
Mediabox is a
fund for youth led media projects.
If your organization has a good idea for a youth media project and
feels that it could successfully deliver that project then you
should apply to Mediabox.
Mediabox funds media projects that use print, television, film,
radio, digital, or online media projects in order to enable young
people aged 13-19 to express their ideas and views on issues that
matter to them.
Mediabox offers a variety of different grants ranging from
£1,000 to £40,000 via the different
strands to the Mediabox Fund:
Mini Mediabox is open to grassroots and community
youth organisations
Mid Mediabox, Big Mediabox and Mix Mediabox are
open to established youth and or media focused organisations
My Mediabox is open to individual young people via
competitions and partner organizations.

Mediabox is funded by The
Department for Children, Schools and Families and the fund is
run by First Light
Movies, Media Trust,
Skillset and the UK Film Council.
Alternative Funding Opportunities
First Light Movies
First Light Movies fund groups of
young people aged between five and 19 through various funding
schemes. As film is a lower priority for Mediabox in 2008,
alternative avenues for film funding may be available. Find out

Mediabox Past Projects
Shelter
- A panel of young people from Shelter who had been homeless or in
care were trained by ICDC to use multimedia tools. project manage
and support other young people.
Signal
Films - over 30 young people took part in the
Digital Regeneration Scheme - three media
production projects.
Onteca
- Over 50 young people produce MMO - massive multimedia player
online game.
