Mersey Television renamed

Mersey Television to be renamed as Lime Pictures

The UK’s leading regional independent producer of television drama has today announced that it has changed its name.

The change in name, the first in the organisation’s history, comes as the company expands its range of programming and multi platform services to include comedy, factual and children’s programming as well as digital media.

Lime Pictures Chief Executive Carolyn Reynolds said:
“Over the last two years our output has expanded into a broader based production company and content provider and this name change reflects the ongoing transformation of our business. We’re bursting with top talent and award-winning writers and we have ambitious plans to be recognised as the only independent known for making a whole range of drama, from long runners to singles.”

Managing Director Sean Marley added:
“The concept for the Lime Pictures identity pays tribute to the region, and the opportunities that this presents grow by the day. The new name also gives us a fresh image and one that will travel worldwide.”

Conker Media, the new media division of the company, will retain its name operating as part of the Lime Pictures Group and will continue to provide content to the multitude of cross-platform outlets.
Projects in development include a ground-breaking pilot for ITV2 and a behind-the-scenes documentary for ITV3. Conker Media has also established and is running 4Laughs for Channel 4 - as well as providing all Hollyoaks’ new media content.

Lime Pictures remains one of Channel 4’s biggest suppliers with award winning show Hollyoaks, which is delivering record audiences this year. Grange Hill (BBC) is presently filming series 30 on the Liverpool-based Campus Manor site.

Currently Lime Pictures is in production on a new six-part drama called Bonkers by Sally Wainwright for ITV1. A saucy comedy starring Liza Tarbuck and Mark Addy, the series is based on an ensemble of colourful and likeable characters and an awful lot of sex.

Lime Pictures has a number of other projects in development with a number of main broadcasters.
