MOVES07 FESTIVAL LAUNCHES PROGRAMME

MANCHESTER-BASED moves07 returns for the third year on 12-17 June as the largest UK platform for screen-based work exploring movement in the form of dance films, interactive installations, animation and experimental shorts.

Over 6 days, moves07 will host a panoply of visual delights from all over the world and welcome international filmmakers, industry professionals and academics to partake in a 2-day conference, screenings, discussions and workshops and debate the ever-expanding boundaries of the medium.

As well as showcasing recent work and facilitating their very own filmmaking lab, moves07 will take a historical journey expounding the development of movement on screen including a programme curated by the influential French ‘Cinemateque de la Danse’ and an homage to American dance film innovator, Maya Deren.

Alongside the screenings there will be a wide range of events:

- the world premiere of an interactive installation by North West artists Bex and Mark Haig;
- daily panel discussions to address industry and content issues such as the commissioning of dance films for TV channels;
- a 2-day conference on 'Choreography on Screen';
- live events including a live film score by a Mancunian-Parisian duet and a closing night of electronic mayhem and syncopated visuals.
