Phil Bagpuss and Friends

Author, broadcaster and comedian Phill Jupitus will be in Bristol on Sunday 27 July to host an Encounters Short Film Festival tribute to a hero of British animation - Oliver Postgate - and his best-loved characters, including Bagpuss, The Clangers, Pogle's Wood and Noggin the Nog.

The afternoon of television nostalgia is taking place at Watershed, Bristol, (3.30pm start) to mark the 50th anniversary of Oliver Postgate’s entry into stop-motion and the birth of Smallfilms, the animation company he founded with Peter Firmin.

Award-winning animator Barry Purves will be among those contributing to an affectionate and light-hearted look back at Oliver Postgate’s career and creations, with the help of film clips and anecdotes from the audience.
