Technique set to provide unique platform for NW developers
Web developers in the North West are set to benefit from
an innovative new event.
‘Technique’
is a residential training camp - a weekend retreat set to bring
developers of all codes together with visionaries from the global
development community.
Based around hands-on technical workshops from internationally
renowned developers, participants will get expert technical
training, explore emerging technologies and develop new, efficient
approaches to working. The program will also include keynote
presentations, one-to-one code surgeries and a ‘hack
party’.
Confirmed trainers include Peter-Paul Koch (Quirksmode), Luis
Lavena (Area 17), Dan Zambonini (Box UK) and Seb Lee-Delisle
(Plug-In Media / Papervision3D), with more to be announced over the
coming weeks.
The programme is being delivered by Northwest Vision and Media,
which works on behalf of the creative and digital industries in the
region, with content delivery by creative economy consultancy The
White Room.
The retreat will take place in January 2010, in the Midland Hotel
in Morecambe - a 1930’s Art-Deco hotel, refurbished to
incorporate the latest digital and wireless technologies.
Enda Carey, Head of Games and Digital at Northwest Vision and Media
said: “Technique presents a shift in focus - while other
events focus on thinking and talking, Technique is all about
action. It will be intensive, practical and hands-on. As well as a
unique chance to receive expert technical advice from
internationally renowned trainers, participants will also have the
chance to swap skills, experiences and approaches with developers
from across the North West. All-in-all, a developers dream
retreat.
Places are limited, so interested developers and employers
are encouraged to apply early.
