UK TV GO INTERACTIVE a Hyper Island training program supported by the Skillset TV Freelance Fund

The television industry landscape in the United Kingdom is transforming into a cross platform reality. As the digital and interactive media industry continues to evolve, new roles and skills are required in most areas of the industry. This program is supported by the Skillset TV Freelance Fund and aims to develop TV Freelancers interactive mindset to keep pace with this new phase of the medium’s evolution.


The program will help you:

- Understand the transformation from broadcast to conversation
- Boost yourself with the know-how of interactive communication
- Create work and solutions for users rather than a traditional audience
- Understand principles for cross platform content and the concept “TV is not TV”
- Become a better skilled and competitive television freelancer

Who should participate?

The program “UK TV GO INTERACTIVE” is aimed towards television freelancers who are looking to develop their skills in a range of areas related to cross platform delivery and making conversation- and interactive based television. You should recently have graduated from university or have a maximum of three years working in the television market as a freelancer.

Application

Number of participants in the program is a maximum of 20. You apply by filling in the application form, and attach mandatory enclosures such as CV and a personal letter. Last day to apply is the 22nd of December, 2009. You apply at www.hyperisland.se/uktvgointeractive.

Based on the applications about 30-35 applicants will be chosen to meet up with program recruiters for half a day either in Manchester or in London to perform an interview and a creative task. The dates for meeting up with program recruiters are:

Manchester 11 – 12 January 2010
London 13 – 14 January 2010

Information about final admission to the program will be sent out by email the 15 January 2010.


Dates, location and cost
This unique course is subsidised by the Skillset TV Freelance Fund and costs 300 GBP. The program will start 2 February 2010 and end the 1 June 2010. There will be in total 7 full-time days for participants to meet up in London and Manchester according to the following preliminary dates:

2nd – 4th of February in London
23rd – 24th of March in Manchester
27th of April in London
1st of June in Manchester

In between the above dates you as a participant will work with tasks both individually and in teams. Some tasks will be executed in co-operation with television production agencies or television channels. Part of this time project teams will have industry mentors and each participants will have a coach related to personal development. Distance-based time during the program is estimated to about 6-8 hours per week during the program period.
