Northwest Vision and Media proudly presents the “VISIONARY SESSIONS” - ‘SHOWRUNNERS’

This is the first in a series of inspiring sessions and master classes hosted by Northwest Vision and Media, in partnership with MediaXchange.

‘SHOWRUNNERS’
will give drama and scripted comedy producers a firsthand insight into the world of drama television production in the United States.

Jim Parriott, is a Showrunner (executive producer /writer) of many hit dramas including Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy and Threat Matrix, and will describe the responsibilities of the Showrunner in creating, developing and maintaining a long running television drama series.

The discussion will then be open to Q&A from the participants.

Short Biography on Jim Parriott

Jim Parriott has served as an Executive Producer on many hit dramas including guiding the premiere seasons of Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy and Threat Matrix.

Shows he created, as well as serving as Executive Producer, include Voyagers!, Misfits of Science, Forever Knight, Educating Matt Waters, and The American Embassy shot in London.

His latest two groundbreaking projects include Executive Producer on “Sons of Anarchy”: an adrenalized drama with darkly comedic undertones for the FX Network; and “Defying Gravity”: inspired by the BBC drama-documentary series Space Odyssey: Voyage to the Planets, and being co-produced by the BBC, Fox Television Studios and Omni Film Productions, in association with Canadian broadcasters CTV Television Network and SPACE, and German broadcaster ProSieben.

Parriott’s awards include the Writers Guild of America TV Award (2006 & 2007), and the Producers Guild of America Television Producer of the Year Award in Episodic series (2007).
