What We Do
Formed in 2002, Northwest Vision was initially a screen
agency funded by the UK Film Council.
In May 2007 we merged with Media Training Northwest to become
Northwest Vision and Media the single organisation to lead, support
and promote the creative and digital industries in the
region.
We are responsible for the TV, film, radio, digital/ICT, games,
creative services, music, and publishing sectors; we deliver
various services tailored to help you grow your business and
fulfill your potential as a talented individual or a
business.
How we can support you...
Companies – We offer companies a wide range of initiatives to help achieve business growth and development. These include:-
Supporting companies; through grants and investments - with business and product development as well as developing and sustaining international strategies
Promote business to business partnerships
Support with finding new talents and short-term ‘plug-in’ placements
Organise workshop programmes tailored to developing technical, personal, professional and business skills.
Organise management and leadership seminars,
Provide high level mentoring – where experienced people can help businesses address issues and ways forward.
New initiatives are constantly evolving, and we are keen to foster partnerships and multi-platform collaborations between traditional and new media businesses.
Freelancers – It is part of the role of Northwest Vision and Media to support freelancers in their career development and there are many different services we offer to assist freelancers. For example
We can help by meeting 70% of the cost of training on any course that we agree would be a great career move.
We can help with improving technical, personal, professional and business skills through specially tailored and unique workshops
We assist established freelancers with ongoing training and support through placements on projects in many different areas of the business
We offer one-to-one career planning, mentoring, coaching or ‘buddying’ in areas of interest
Provide numerous networking opportunities through our programmes of events.
New Talent – One of the most important tasks at Northwest Vision and Media is to encourage new talent to join the creative and digital industries. We do this in a variety of ways, all of which are solidly practical and designed to offer newcomers active help at the start of their careers.
Help may begin with a straightforward one-hour session where hopes, aspirations, options and qualifications are discussed, CVs considered and a career plan put in place
We put ‘new talents’ in touch with professionals working in the sector they are most interested in for advice, ‘buddying’ and one-to-one mentoring
Paid placements may be available in a variety of roles, in different areas of the industry, together with opportunities for shadowing people who are experts in their field
We also offer technical training, including our unique ‘Advanced Apprenticeship in Media Production’ – an 18 month programme which gives 16 – 22 year olds a unique opportunity to break into the digital and creative industry
Companies, Freelancers and New Talents are also welcome at events and award ceremonies organised by Northwest Vision and Media, where there is always ample opportunities to meet and network with other businesses and people working in the creative and digital industries.
We offer access to commissioners, distributors and technology and give international trade support, in addition to investment in individuals, companies and products. This, in turn, helps to increase inward investment in the sector, and by working in partnership with other organisations we also inform the growth of that sector.
We are funded by the UK Film Council, The Northwest Regional Development Agency, European Regional Development Funds, Skillset, local, city and council authorities across the region
