3D: The future is now.....but what next?

Continuing with the theme of sharing knowledge and reacting to emerging technologies; Vision+Media hosted their third and quite possibly their biggest visionary session to date. If you missed the event all the 3D videos can be found on our Vimeo channel.

The session was exploring the impact of 3D. Vision+Media believe that increasing the industries knowledge and understanding of 3D and its impact will enable them to respond to the technology and work towards developing new products and maximising on new markets; in other words company growth.

Building and Evaluating chain of Impact.

Vision+Media have recently implemented a Monitoring and Evaluation Framework which is integrated with an ROI toolkit. This is used to measure the effectiveness of all of our programmes in reaching their overall aim.The event was attended 82 guests including developers, directors, producers and those with a general interest in 3D. In order to measure how effective the session was at beginning the journey towards company growth attendees were requested to complete a feedback form.

Feedback forms were completed by 40 attendees representing a return rate of 49%. This is low return rate and as such affects the credibility of the results found. However the sample response was analysed; a summary of which is below - please see the report on the right hand side for full results.

 Continuing and Applying skills

As mentioned above 26 respondents committed to continued development / application of their skills. The chart below shows the main areas of continued development that were identified.

What Next?

The evaluation would suggest that the event was successful in targeting the right audience at the right time. The statistics in terms of relevance and importance are encouraging despite the occasional contradictory comment. The large proportion of attendees indicating that they wanted to develop their skills further fits the nature of a visionary session; they are intended to inspire rather than to cement skills.

However skills were clearly acquired. 63% of respondents indicated an increase in their levels of knowledge and understanding resulting in 65% showing they had ‘some’ knowledge and understanding of the four areas as a result of the programme. Again this shows that a foundation was laid but there is still room for further growth.

Attendees will be contacted again in the future to ascertain how well they have continued in their skill development and made further progress towards company growth.
