Check out the new trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger. The production filmed key scenes in Manchester’s Northern Quarter and on the docks at Liverpool.
The filming locations were organised with the help of Vision+Media and the Liverpool film office in 2010, who have previously facilitated major movie productions in the region including Sherlock Holmes (2009) and Alfie (2004).
Manchester's Northern Quarter was transformed to 1940s New York, filming one of the movie's major scenes, and in Liverpool the docklands area provided a backdrop for some high action drama. See if you can spot any of the locations in the trailer below:
Kaye Elliott, Vision+Media, Director of inward Investment
“Already this year the Vision+Media Film Office has assisted productions which have had an estimated £9.8M economical impact in Greater Manchester. That’s money spent in our restaurants, bars, hotels, using local crews and facilities. Greater Manchester is now seeing a surge in commissioned dramas and is developing a reputation in the US and London for Greater Manchester’s ‘can do’ attitude to accommodating feature films. Over the last few months we’ve had Meryl Streep here filming Pathe’s, The Iron Lady, plus ITVs new dramas Appropriate Adult and Scott and Bailey.”
