On Sun 11th April I'll be heading out to Los Angeles with Kaye (Director of Inward Investment) to attend the2010 AFCI Locations Tradeshow.
It's an annual gathering of film commissioners from all over the world (from Fiji to Finland, New Zealand to New York ) which gives us the opportunity to promote our respective corner of the globe to a number of high-profile US producers.
We'll be manning a stand along with our counterparts from some of the other UK Screen Agencies and will be doing the hard sell on behalf of the North West! With such a fantastically diverse mix of locations in our region, skilled crew and facilities, and super Film Friendly local authorities, we're aiming to tempt the next Hollywood blockbuster over the pond so watch this space...
While we're out there we'll also be hosting an exclusive dinner on behalf of Vision+Media for a selected group of major Hollywood studio execs, the aim of which is to target specific companies and encourage them to come on a familiarisation trip to the region later in the year so they can see for themselves how perfect it would be for their next production. And in case our scintillating conversation and Northern charm isn't enough we've also prepared a goodie bag for each of them with some North West treats including Blackpool rock, Kendal mint cake and a Beatles CD! Who could possibly resist?
