...everyone!
The Northern Lighters have now finished their programme and delivered their final presentations to a panel of industry professional judges from the programme partners; Fudge, BBC FM&T, Key 103 and Carbon Digital.
The four teams delivered their pitches based on briefs set from industry and containing multiplatform ideas on the Key 103 Summer Ball, an artist signed to Universal Music, the 2012 Olympics and Unilever’s product Cif.
I really mean everyone was a winner in a way, as cheesy as that sounds, but in a more realistic way the actual winners were the Universal Music group of Adam Barker, Andrew Kinsella, Sophie Mankin and Amy Scott. However all the pitches were innovative, exciting, relevant and impressive so well done to all.
Below are some of the quotes from the industry processionals;
“The team that had the summer ball project were really thinking about how each of the functions connected together. And that was very impressive”
Chris Rick, Deputy Programme Director, Key 103
"Being involved in the NL3 project has been a great experience for Fudge. We've made some talented new friends. We're looking forward to seeing how their careers progress and crossing paths again in the near future."
Andrew Eccles, Operations Director & Partner, Fudge
"Northern Lights is great scheme, well suited to today's complex media environment. Trainees are exposed to a wide range of experiences and learn first hand how to develop truly multi-media propositions under the guidance of practising media professionals"
Andy Davy, Project Director, BBC Future Media & Technology
"It was truly amazing to see what they had done in the time they had and how well the idea was presented. The presentation of the briefs was very exciting and again it was amazing to see such confidence."
Sue McHugh, Carbon Digital Ltd.
Here are some trainee quote;
"The programme was extremely helpful on a number of levels. I felt that I was constantly learning more about what I wanted to do, I enjoyed the challenges, I got a valuable insight, and everyone was very easy to get on with."
Tom Marshall, TV trainee
"The specialism training at carbon digital was excellent. I was able to see real working practices and be involved with work that was being produced for real clients. The experience was invaluable and I’m sure it will play a key part in me furthering my career."
Robert Killingbeck, Games Trainee
"It gave me a fascinating insight into the other areas of the creative industry that I’d never really considered before."
Jimmy Lee, Digital Trainee
"Amazing. I don’t think I could have experienced as much I did in these 4 weeks if I had struggled on my own in the industry for another 2 years."
Dominic Ladden-Powell, Radio Trainee
One Trainee has already secured some work experience at Fudge and another has an interview with Chilllingo, these are just the ones we know about! Well done to everyone involved and good luck in whatever you do in the future.
