Project Canvas Development Diary
Citrus Suite & Onteca
Diary 1
Steve and Paul attended the initial launch of the BBC / Vision+Media’s Project Canvas initiative.
It soon dawned on our intrepid duo that there was real potential for Citrus Suite to get involved, so they quickly reported their observations back to the rest of the team, and scheduled a brainstorming session for later that week.
During the subsequent meeting, Team Citrus discussed a range of generic ideas relating to technology, such as integrating elements such as Twitter feeds, cloud tags and Wordpress links into the Project Canvas framework. However, it became apparent through further discussion that all early ideas were relatively sober – we needed a more dynamic idea that could showcase our skills and ambition. The gnawing feeling that we could do better prompted the subsequent game based idea.
"Why don't we pitch a game event that plays out in parallel with the plotline of a TV show?” So the Alternate Reality Game (ARG) concept took shape. This proposal would utilise the game technology that Citrus have been working on and has the potential to make full use of one of the BBC's brands.
The pitch was put to the BBC / Vision+Media team without tagging it to any particular content or TV show.
We were delighted to hear our pitch had been a success and that we have an opportunity to develop interactive content that can add real value to one of the Beeb's TV series. Watch this space!
