Four Lions and Chris Morris Q&A

I went to the Four Lions screening with the Chris Morris Q&A at Cornerhouse, Manchester. It took me a while to settle into the film, probably because I was expecting it to be more similar to other Chris Morris works, but once I was over that it was fine. I laughed the loudest at the most inappropriate bits - it’s amazing how funny I find people or animals being blown up.

The Q&A was interesting. Chris Morris was joined by Faisal A. Qureshi, Four Lions Associate Producer (who is from the North West) and actor Arsher Ali. Chris Morris kind of took over and was answering each question with a wild and fantastic anecdote (even when the question wasn’t directed at him) but it was really interesting to find out how much research they did on extremism in the UK and I thought it definitely showed in the film. I was too shy to ask my question but I did want to ask whether they had received any criticism for the film from any Muslims in particular- I’ll try and be brave next time.

I loved Chris Morris saying he found it funny when his grandfathers coffin fell on to his grandmother while she was in her wheelchair!
