Visionary Session Evaluation: Changing Industry Models

As part of the series of visionary sessions hosted by Vision+Media, an event was held to address the need for changing industry models. In order for companies to survive they must be in a position to allow them to diversify, react to and find new markets with a view of them enabling growth and sustainability. This was fundamentally the point of the session and others like it.

Building a chain of impact

Vision+Media have recently implemented a Monitoring and Evaluation Framework which is integrated with an ROI toolkit. This is used to measure the effectiveness of all of our programmes in reaching their overall aim following a chain of impact as shown below:

chain of impact

Following the event, through the use of an evaluation/feedback form we measured participants’ reaction to and learning from the event therefore taking the first two steps towards evaluating its full effectiveness and reaching a return on investment.

Evaluating the chain

40 feedback forms were received following the event which represents an 87% return rate, the highest we’ve reported on so far this year. Below summarises their responses:

Lessons Learned

It would certainly appear that the visionary session was successful in reaching its early aims of addressing growth needs and providing participants with knowledge of new models. However the learning outcomes would suggest that many people already understood why it is important and where models work and perhaps the session over emphasised these aspect. The results from the third outcome would suggest that participants were keen to learn about how to change models and adapt their business. This is again supported by the level of commitment in changing business models.

This commitment will be followed up in further evaluation which will ensure the chain of impact continues to evidence the effectiveness of this session in achieving its longer term aims of sustainable companies through new business models.
