The Games/Digital Marketing Placement Scheme is a placement-based training and development scheme currently in its pilot year, in which graduates from Marketing, PR and Digital Communications courses in the North West, as well as those with marketing experience looking to enter the games or digital sectors, are provided with the opportunity to join the team and contribute to the tactical and marketing plan of a growing company within a growing industry.
Placements are paid and last for six months. Trainees also benefit from mentoring throughout the placement from an experienced industry professional and access to a training subsidy for relevant training during the placement.
Six placements are currently underway at mobile games publisher Chillingo, 3D animation and production company Carbon Digital, independent games developer Onteca, videogame peripherals developer New Concept Gaming, web development agency CTI Support Network and CG animation and production company RealtimeUK.
Here’s what Sue McHugh of Carbon Digital had to say about the scheme and their marketing trainee Brian Adamski;
"Our marketing placement with Vision+Media and our trainee Brian Adamski is going very well indeed. In the time he has been with us he has thrown himself into understanding every aspect of the business and the industry in general. He has accompanied us to key meetings with clients and so has become a valued point of contact for our clients too. He has attended numerous training sessions, meetings, etc and has begun to put in place all the foundations for marketing our showreel. We have had particularly good progress with our involvement with Brian's mentor Andrew Thomas who has helped him get off to a flying start.
"Brian has also accompanied us on shoots including a trip to Italy where he introduced himself to our clients over there and made a great impression. By becoming involved in all aspects of our business he has developed a thorough understanding of what we do and the way we work with our clients. All in all a tremendous placement which we certainly hope will lead on to a great future as a key part of our company."
