What We Do

Start of Navigation

Vision+Media supports film festivals in the region to provide audiences across the North West with access to a diverse range of specialised cultural film: from shorts to documentaries to never before seen foreign language films. If you are a film festival in Cheshire, Lancashire, Merseyside or West/North Cumbria we'd particularly love to hear from you.

In 2010/11 we are proud to support:

The Manchester Kurdish Film Festival
The 5th Manchester Kurdish Film Festival will take place at Cornerhouse in early 2011. Expect a colourful mix of films with something for everyone to enjoy, including premieres and award-winning films from the Kurdish speaking world, filmmakers’ Q&As and short film.

AND (Abandon Normal Devices) Festival
Following a stand out debut in 2009, Abandon Normal Devices (AND) returned in October 2010 at Manchester's Cornerhouse and various venues around the region. AND welcomed audiences to experience the best in new cinema and media art in a celebration that spilled from the screen and galleries into the landscape and imaginations of the North West. Launched in Liverpool in 2009, AND is a partnership between FACT, Cornerhouse and Folly. (1 - 7 October 2010: various venues)

exposures: new talent in moving image
exposures is a truly unique festival: its administrative home is Cornerhouse; its creative heart beats at Cornerhouse and the University of Salford; and its body is a collaboration across creative, cultural, commercial and academic organisations. exposures took place from 16 - 18 November 2010.

The Kendal Mountain Festival
Kendal is by far the largest and most varied event of its type in Europe, if not the world and is the main social event for outdoor enthusiasts in the UK and beyond. At the heart of Kendal’s programme is the mountain film competition, attracting film premières from around the world. Over 50 films are screened (from hundreds of entries) with many coveted prizes up for grabs. The festival took place from 18 - 21 November 2010.

Rais Academy and Hamsafar's Memories Asian Film Festival
Rais Academy exists to advance the education of the public in the understanding and appreciation of Asian arts and culture and deliver strategic objectives to develop communities and using the arts based activities to encourage participants to explore issues in their lives. In 2010/11 Memories will showcase Bollywood and Lollywood classics to audiences in Blackburn, Rochdale and Ashton.
